"Vegetables" series: This painting of mushrooms was one of 5 from the Vegetable series I painted as a gift for Shannon. I thought it would be cool for the kitchen or dining area of our place. Our great neighbor (at the time) Ed created the "surfaces" for these. Each one is hand cut wood with a reinforced back frame. Once Ed finished assembling those (thanks again Ed) I first coated them with plumbers "spackle" for texture. Once that dried I painted the entire surface with black acrylics. Then when the black finally dried I did the actual vegetable painting with oils. Quite a bit of work but well worth it. Shannon loves them! |
